You’re in control of your own health, but proceed with caution…
It’s so frustrating for me to see the amount of people that take to Facebook to ask for medical advice from all of the “Facebooks Medical Experts “ Have we devalued the health care experience so much that patients routinely seek medical advice from friends and family? 📉
Yes, personal experience from others can be important in the cases of connecting the dots, or comparing symptoms. But it shouldn’t replace expert medical advice or make a decision for you.
Neither should Dr. Google. 👨⚕️
Believe me googling symptoms is easy, and in many cases it can be very helpful. However, it usually doesn’t tell us the whole story. Even for someone who has an advanced medical degree, I still don’t completely understand the complexity of many conditions that occur in the human body.
What I am getting at, is that many of you won’t fully understand the relevance of your medical condition or symptoms. Leave it to a medical professional to decide and determine the best course of action for you or with you, not Cousin Eddy on Facebook. Additionally, If you don’t agree what your practitioner says, then you can always get a second or even third opinion. Ultimately, you’re the one in control of your own health.
